I thought that it was an interesting twist to have a female rocker instead of the usual male rocker as the main character. I liked the idea of an all female band because it brought a certain amount of feminine energy to the book. It was cool to see the comradery and friendship between all of them. The disappointing part for me was how annoying I found Effa (Vespa). I had a hard time getting through the book because I don't really like hippie characters. There is something about them that irks me. I don't want to read about a character that is constantly talking about energy, chakras, and doing odd activities. There wasn't any substance to the character other than being a hippie. The only characters that I even kind of liked were Luke and Alana. They were the only ones that seemed to have a clear head about things and didn't annoy me by being immature.
I also strongly disliked the insta-love in the book! I don't understand why the author wouldn't have established a connection between the two main characters before having them act on it. When that doesn't take place in a book of this nature, the relationship becomes one that revolves around sex. Kaden and Effa did have a few moments where they spoke about deeper topics but they just barely grazed the surface when talking about them. Overall, it just felt a bit forced. It was hard to believe they had any kind of chemistry at all.
I thought that the story was predictable and felt like it was in keeping with the typical rock star trope. I would have liked to have seen something different and for the author to take a different approach on the whole rock star thing and run with it. The issues that Kaden and Effa face in the book felt like they were the same things that are in other books of this nature. It felt like the author was trying to put together a puzzle and forced certain pieces into places where they didn't belong. I know that I already said this regarding the main characters relationship but it also holds true for the story as well that it was very forced.
