Synopsis:
Joey:
They say you never get a second chance at a first impression. That is, unless you’re my gorgeous temporary neighbor.
My first impression of Theo Crawford was anything but wonderful. He was discourteous, anti-social, and a drunken mess.
My second impression wasn’t much better when he inconsiderately woke me on a Sunday morning.
But by my third impression, my views toward Theo began to soften. Maybe he isn’t as bad as he seems.
And now? Well, let’s just say my defective heart doesn’t care that he’s gay, because I’ve fallen for him.
Theo:
Wait, what?
I’m not gay.
Where the hell did she get that impression?

If I could sum this book up in a few words they would be a heartwarming romance with laugh out loud moments. These characters that Sierra Hill were so real. I felt like I knew them because they reminded me of people that I have known. The title of the book was appropriate because the two characters did indeed have their flaws as each person does. Joey made the assumption that Theo was gay without talking to him about it. Theo was going through a hard time in his life and did not give a good representation of who he was as a person when he first met Joey. I was able to relate to both of the characters in different ways. Joey tries to make the people around her happy at the cost of her happiness. She is so giving towards others and has a light about her. Theo is a kind-hearted, creative man who is striving to reach his dreams who people tend to take advantage of. I loved how gentlemanly and loving he was.
The story line was refreshing. Yes, it is a romance and there are things that will be similar to other romance novels bu at the same time it is different. Joey and Theo aren't fixing each other but rather elevating each other so that they each strive for what they want without needing the other to do so. They each have their own awkward moments which I loved because let's face it....what person has never made a fool of themselves in front of the opposite sex. It was a bit like a case of mistaken identity the way that Joey thinks that Theo is gay. I found it both hilarious and also frustrating. The book is also much more than this though. They each have real life issues that they are dealing with in their lives including exs, family, and occupations.
I loved the flow of the book. It didn't seem like anything was forced and everything in the story had a natural flow to it. I thought that the timing was spot on with nothing happening too fast or too slow. The author was able to establish the chemistry and sexual tension between the main characters in such a way that it was believable and not insta-love.
I don't think that I can say that there was anything that I disliked about the book other than I wouldn't have classified this book as a romantic comedy. I feel like it was more of a contemporary romance with some comedy sprinkled in at certain points.
